Alaigne – the beautiful round village is part of the departement Aude. It is situated in an almost unknown corner of the South-West of France between the Mediterranean and the Atlantic. The northern part of this region borders on the “Canal du Midi”and the “Montagne Noire”. In the South there are the Pyrenees and also Spain is not far away. The idyllic hilly landscape of Alaigne is surrounded by picturesque vineyards where red “Malpère”-grapes for full-bodied red wine or white grapes for the well-known tangy Blanquette or the excellent Chardonnay grow.

Alaigne has a small supermarket where fresh bread and delicious croissants can be bought every day as well as all other necessary food and articles. A post office, a telephone box and an English bar are there, too. The next pub is within a walking distance of three kilometres in the neighbour village “Belvèze d. R.” Restaurants, big supermarkets and petrol stations are approximately 12 kilometres away in “Limoux”.
